CONCLUDING INFORMATION
The Symposium has been ORGANIZED BY THE COMPRESSOR DEPARTMENT of the Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University with the support of the administration of the State Polytechnic University, the Compressor and Pneumatic Association, the All Russian Association of Refinery Senior Engineers and the International Refrigeration Academy.
ON PREVIOUS ACTIVITY
Compressors are applied in all kinds of industry and transport. Their effectiveness and reliability define an economical soundness of production lines. The level of pressures, speed of rotation altogether with a complicated character of operation, creates a serious challenge to compressor users and manufacturers. Understanding it, the Compressor Department organized in 1994 the first meeting, where speakers and members of Organizing Committee were exclusively specialists and leaders of industry - final users and manufacturers. The themes of reports were oriented to interests and experience of final users. The idea and experience of the first Symposium-94 were anonymously supported by the national and international compressor community. The following annual meetings in 1996 - 2008 altogether with the first Symposium-1994 attracted more than 1970 participants from many C.I.S., Western and Eastern countries, numerous companies - users, attracted the majority of the world important compressor manufacturers. Among the organizations - final users OAO GAZPROM must be noted for his bold financial and organizational support from the very beginning of the meetings. The decisive role of the support and participation of the companies - manufacturers from the list of sponsors below is evident as well.
THE ORGANIZATION
The Organizing Committee of the Symposium includes many prominent members of the Russian compressor community and representatives of the Compressor Department SPU.

The information about Symposium has been published in the magazines Compressor and Pneumatic Technology, Chemical and oil-gas-machinery construction, Kholodilnaja Tekhnika, Gas Turbo Technology (all in Russian).

The Organization Committee organized the program of the Symposium, prepared and printed the conference proceedings (38 papers).
The Executive Committee (Compressor Dept. leading staff), officials of Scientific and Technology Information Department and students - volunteers organized and controlled the activity of the Symposium-2010.
The working language of Symposium was Russian for the benefits of participants - final users, who were 100% Russian speaking.
The conference proceedings were published in Russian with the English translation of titles and the list of content and distributed among the delegates. The electronic version is available.
THE PARTICIPANTS of the SYMPOSIUM
There were 144 specialists from 35 cities and 81 companies and institutions from Russia, Austria, France, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA, Poland. The organization of the users represented the key branch of the industry:

It is also important to underline the active help of the All Russian Association of Refinery Senior Engineers (Mr. B. Kabanov, the chairman of the Association and a member of the Organization Committee and Miss. N. Egorsheva, the CEO of the Scientific and Technology Center of the Council of Refinery Equipment Managers).
THE WORKING PROGRAMME AND ITS REALIZATION
The working program was realized in the SPU SPb Main Building. On the 9th and the 10th of June were presented and discussed 36 papers, which were printed in the conference proceedings and distributed among the participants.
The companies Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, MAN Diesel & Turbo, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Elliott Turbomachinery, ZAO REP Holding, OAO NPO Iskra, ZAO Barrens, ZAO Premium Ingeneering, Societe de Mecanique Magnetique organized mini-exhibitions that attracted attention of numerous participants.
The participants had the possibility to know each other and to discuss the problems of mutual interests in an informal atmosphere during the evening meetings in the Scientists Club cafe (June the 9th) and in the hall of the buisiness center Tolstoy skver (June the 10th).
CULTURAL PROGRAM
The 11th of June the participants could choose a cultural program between a sightseeing tour in the city center of Saint Petersburg and a boat trip on the rivers and canals, and a visit at the Nevsky Zavod, where they could see the production of advanced compressor technic for oil, gas and other industries.
CONCLUDING REMARKS
The presented papers were met with live interest and were vividly discussed. The importance of the Symposium is growing among the Russian and foreigners firms. The participants hail the meeting for the possibility to meet many colleagues and partners and they appreciate the Symposium as an important source of fresh technical information.
The Organizing Committee will do its best to increase the numbers of the company that participate at the Symposium.
